It seems that a single day does not pass without the word Terrorist being rubbed in our faces. The American Government would have us believe there are threats and dangers hiding just out of sight, and if we are not prepared to hand over our Rights and Privacy that it will surely claim us all. This monumental threat comes not only from foreign sources, so says our government, but from Right Wing Radicals right here in America. Evidently we are surrounded on all sides by danger and our only hope is to trust our government to handle it.

What a joke! This government cannot balance a budget, loses freshly printed money, sells weapons to Drug Cartels, votes on legislation it’s never read, cannot offer any solution to immigration issues, finances Dictators only to depose them later, rewards corruption, and doesn’t care for its veterans. Do you honestly believe the people who do all of that are going to keep you safe? Do you truly believe they even have the ability to do so?

If so, then I have a bridge I want to sell you. We’ll get to that later though.

Let’s really stop and take an objective look at this. I know logic, reason and common sense have no place in politics these days, but just for fun, let’s give it a try here.

So, who are all these evil terrorists that threaten us?

Are they foreigners? Gee, I know lots of people from other lands, and they seem like nice folks to me, as much as naturalized Americans anyhow.

Are they Muslims? I know many people who follow the teachings of Islam, and for the far greater part they speak of peace and tolerance.

Are they angry Americans who speak out against the government? I know lots of those, and not one of them has ever spoken to me about hurting people to make their point.

So who are these Terrorists I am supposed to be afraid of? I don’t know, but being killed in a random act of violence is not what I fear. Even where it so I know it would not likely come from a ‘terrorist’, but rather from a hardened criminal who was born right here and doesn’t give a crap about politics.

No, it’s not that I am such a brave and valiant individual that I have no fear. I am not afraid of being killed in this manner because I know how extremely rare it is for such things to happen, and I have no control over the criminal minds that plan such horrible acts. I can only be prepared to fight for my life should the need arise, and know peace in my heart should the worst come to pass.

I do know fear though. I feel the cold, black fingers of fear close on my heart and press down upon my soul quite often.

When I am driving and a police car pulls in behind me I am afraid. I fear the police because they cause me grief, cost me my hard earned money and clearly try to intimidate me with the authoritarian mannerism they are trained in. I know that a police officer can lock me up and abuse me, treat me like a criminal and even beat me to death on the side of the street with near impunity. I know I have no chance at all to defend myself from them, and would only be beaten or killed if I tried to resist. From Rodney King to Kelly Thomas, I have seen this happen over and over again. Oh yes, I fear the police!

When I think of the IRS I know fear. I have seen the way they operate and know they have the ultimate power of government; Taxation. They can take anything they want from me, make a claim to any ridiculous amount of debt from me, invade my privacy, ignore my rights, reduce me to nothing, lock me up forever, and I can’t do a thing to stop it. I have seen this happen to enough people on National News that I must wonder about the hundreds of cases nobody ever hears about. Oh yes, I fear the IRS!

I know fear when I think of the Federal Government and all its varied departments. I fear the CIA which has overthrown sovereign governments, assassinated dissidents the world over, smuggled drugs, started Wars, violated the Constitution, and hides its activities from view until they are long past. I fear the BATF, who has sold weapons to Cartels which have then used them to kill American Law Enforcement officers. The FBI which has spied on our citizens, failed to investigate huge crimes, and even housed criminals. I fear the Department of Homeland Security because they can take away any Right I have at any moment, for any reason or none, they can make me disrobe in public, feel my genitals and basically ignore my humanity.

I fear the United States Congress, whom I watched stand and cheer when virtually assured of a coming War with Iran.

Oh yes, I fear my Government!

It seems there are terrorists to fear in America after all. They are the ones who cram terror down our throat every day, and will stop at nothing to let us know just how fearful we should be. They are the ones who put us in jeopardy with their reckless policies and wasteful tendencies. They are the ones who deceive us and ignore us. They live in comfort upon our toil. They silence our voices and punish our thoughts. They control every single aspect of our lives.

I KNOW who the real terrorists are!
